The Central Markets and Fisheries Organisation S.A. (OKAA S.A.) was founded in 1955 under the name of the Central Athens Lachanagora Organisation. In 1970, fresh meat wholesalers were transferred to its premises, and in 1989 it was renamed the Athens Central Market. In 1998 it was transformed into a limited liability company under the name ‘Athens Central Market Organisation SA’ and in 2004 the modernisation of its premises began.

The completed complex of the New Meat Market covers a total covered area of approximately 10,000 sq.m. and includes: 25 stores of two different types (medium and large) spread over 2 independent buildings. The premises of the new Meat Market are provided with all the required environmental and operational permits for the storage, processing and marketing of products of animal origin.
